Brett Matthews' 2012 GMC 2500HD

Brett Matthews' 2012 GMC 2500HD

Certain trucks just make a statement. When Brett Matthews made the decision to purchase his 2012 GMC 2500HD Duramax pickup he wasn't the type of person to not make a bold statement. The truck was dropped off at Kelderman headquarters in Oskaloosa, Iowa and the transformation was started. Now the 2012 GMC Sierra's stock suspension was removed in favor of a 8-10" front suspension kit from CST Performance Suspension and Kelderman's own 6-8" 4-link rear lift kit. The suspension absorbs the bumps with the help of dual front shocks, single rear shocks and dual steering stablizers from Sway-A-Way. It's pretty safe to say this truck drives as great as it looks. The Kelderman 6-8" lift is operated by an AccuAir TouchPad that allows Brett to control the height of the system from within the cab of his Duramax or with a remote control key fob from up to 100 ft. away. Dual air tanks and compressors ensure that this Sierra always stays level when he decides it is time to put the Duramax to work.

When Brett does put his truck to work, extra power is pumped to the 6.6L with the support of an H&S Performance Mini Maxx tuner, AFE cold air intake and deleted emissions equipment. The truck's vital data is shown through pillar gauges that include a speaker as part of a custom, upgraded sound system that can crank up the volume when you need something to listen to besides the whistle of the Duramax. More sound fills the cab with the assistance of speakers from Elemental Design and amplifiers by Phoenix Gold. All temperatures are kept in check with the help of a transmission and rear differential cover from the folks at PML Differential Covers.

But what fun is this truck if it doesn't turn a few heads? If the suspension lift doesn't cause you to take a second glance the long list of exterior modifications certainly do. Brett's Sierra sits on 20" BMF SOTA wheels that put all this Duramax's torque to the ground on 38x13.5R20 Toyo Open Country M/T's. The truck was outfitted with a T-Rex grille, Fab Fours front and rear bumpers, EGR fender flares, hood scoop, mirrors, as well as interior trim pieces that were color matched to the Sierra's Stealth Gray metallic paint scheme. Blue powdercoat and chrome accents help show off the suspension of the Sierra, while the the truck helps light up the night with plenty of bright lights. RECON headlights, tail lights and 3rd brake light help brighten any time of day and are a bit more stylish than stock GMC lights. More light comes from just behind the WARN wich located on the front of the truck in the form of a 20" Rigid light bar located behind the T-Rex grille, in addition to the 4" Rigid Dually lights on the front of the Sierra.
